1. Quill
In a boring machine, the quill is equipped with a spindle inside, which is a cylindrical part extending in the direction of the rotation axis. The protruding axis is usually controlled by the W-axis.
Quill and ram, which perform the same function, are distinguished geometrically. The quill is cylindrical, and Ram is the shape of four-sided pillar.
